An email/Craigslist scam has been uncovered with Confero’s name fraudulently used within the follow up communications. The emails were sent to consumers the week of September 21st. Within the email, the scammers claim that they received the person’s email information from a staffing company because the person had recently applied for a job on Craigslist. When questioned about the scam, the scammers direct the person to Confero’s website.
The scammer describes the job opening as an evaluator position and promises to send a certified check which would include the person’s commission for the assignment.
Here is the email about the certified check scam, using the names of Belinda Ramos and N. William Brock. Please do not fall for their scam!

We appreciate that a recipient of the email sent us the information on this scam. Confero reminds everyone to please be aware of scams:
1. The Fake Certified Check scams means the scammer sends you a real looking check to deposit into your bank account. These are the "funds" to use for your shop. Then, the scammers have you wire funds to someone else during your "shop.” Eventually, your bank will learn that the check was not real and you will be on the hook to cover those funds. Please don't fall for that!
2. Confero NEVER sends checks to mystery shoppers.
3. The scammers Belinda Ramos and N. William Brock (if those are real names), are preying on consumer trust of the Confero name. Confero has been in business for 28 years, has an A+ BBB rating and is a founding member of the Mystery Shopping Providers Association.
4. The fake email mentions salary. Confero never quotes salary, as our shops are contracted work. Mystery shop assignments are posted on Confero's secure job board, where shoppers may view them once registered with Confero. Shoppers may choose to apply for the assignments that interest them.
